Does the builder you select really matter?

Most people would, of course, answer yes to this question.  What’s interesting is that I’m not sure this is the lived experience for most people.

What I mean is that people want to care about how (and therefore how) their new Delaware home is built.  They really do.  At the same time, when it comes time to purchase a new Delaware home, the builder is one factor.  I might argue that this isn’t the deciding factor.  I will further argue that it should be a major factor in the process of building a new Delaware home.

“I got it on Amazon”

In my world, “Amazon” means two things- easy and cheap.  Amazon will sell me anything, and it will bring it to my door.  Amazon is almost always less expensive that purchasing the same item elsewhere.  Americans love Amazon.  Amazon doesn’t connote quality.  Americans love Amazon for what it does.

I call this the “Amazon Mentality”- buying something should be cheap and easy.

The Amazon Mentality is great for toothpaste and gummy bears, but how does it work for a Delaware new home?  Cheap and easy aren’t necessarily the most important two factors when it comes to choosing a Delaware new home builder.

Massive building companies that operate in Delaware have emulated Amazon.  They make it cheap and easy to get a new Delaware home.  These huge, publicly traded companies have a streamlined process that manufactures a new home very quickly and inexpensively.

Price vs. Value

The one major difference between Amazon and a Delaware builder is who is making the product.  Amazon is wonderful because it allows a consumer to purchase a trusted brand at a great price.  It also allows a consumer to purchase cheap, low quality items.  In many cases, Amazon is not the brand that a consumer is looking for (although this is changing…).

So when I purchase my San Marzano tomatoes (which I have on autoship), I purchase a trusted brand.  I take advantage of Amazon’s ability to deliver a quality product to my door at a great price, but I am NOT trusting Amazon for the quality of the product itself.

We encourage buyers of Delaware new homes to look at the concept of value as a gauge rather than price.  A Delaware new home should be a great value, but that doesn’t mean it’s the least expensive.

The largest cost in a new Delaware home is the materials.  Lumber, windows, drywall, cabinets, shingles… this is what accounts for most of the costs for any Delaware new home.

After that point, the costs (and the product) can vary greatly.  The lumber isn’t that different, but what happens to the lumber makes a huge difference.

How the lumber is arranged (which creates the floorplan for the new Delaware home), Building a new home is an exciting endeavor that involves careful planning, decision-making, and an investment of both time and money. One of the most important factors to consider when embarking on this journey is the quality of the new home construction. Does quality in a Delaware new home really matter? The answer is a resounding yes. Quality is not just about aesthetics or superficial features; it encompasses every aspect of the home building process and has a direct impact on customer satisfaction and long-term happiness.  All of this is to say that the builder matters for your Delaware new home.  You might not think so when you purchase or move in, but you will some day…
